US Darkhorses?

Unread postby Bubba PV » Wed Jun 15, 2011 8:42 am

We're a little over a year out from the Olympic Games. Who do you all see as rising up and taking on the current flock of leaders in the US men and women vault scene? Who will make the transition from good college vauler to elite vaulter? I've got to think maybe Jack Whitt on the guys side and certainly Kylie Hutson has jumped up in the middle of the women. Jordon Scott for sure?! Jeff Coover? Mary Saxer? The guy will need to be a threat for 5.80m and the girl will need to be a threat for 4.80m to be considered competitive. Who do you think? Thanks! Bubba

I wouldn't be shocked if we don't have 3 with an A standard next year.

Love the confidence....

Roth, Walker, and Miles have all cleared it this year already so if I am counting correctly that is 3 that have the A standard for the Olympics next year. Then I am sure some of the others will get it at some point in the year (Hollis, Scott, Pauli, Colwick). Then there are guys like Whitt looking for PR's before the trials next year.

The qualifying window for the 2012 Olympics started May 1 2011, so Scott Roth does not have it yet, but I guess Derek Miles and Jeremy Scott have it from indoor meets at Bell Athletics, and Brad Walker from today.

We talking elite or professional. Because I consider professional being able to support yourself strictly on the sport of pole vault.
