Unread postby foreverforum8 » Tue Apr 26, 2011 6:11 pm

i have trouble getting completly vertical. i do not drop my shoulders down and no matter how much i focus on doing that when i jump it just doesnt happen. i dont beleive its cuz of strength though. i have a very strong core and i am able to do full bubkas with ease its just when i get to actually vaulting i stare at the bar and that causes my shoulders to not drop heres a video.....jumping 11'6 on a 13 foot 150 grip is right near the end of the pole so probably 12'11 roughly

Focus on driving your top arm through the box as you swing. This will allow your swing to accelerate and your hips to rise. Also the higher you can catch the pole at take off the easier it will be to get inverted.

The longer the lever the more force it generates. Some vaulters make the mistake of rowing with both arms to generate force when they swing you need to drive the top arm through the box accelerating the swing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GXtp78A ... re=related notice how her hands drive forward giving pressure to accelerate the swing.

By catching high I mean getting your hands all the way up, jumping up, and being tall at takeoff.
