Lavillenie certainly had the more consistent season, and beat Hooker head-to-head 5 times where Hooker only beat him twice... but those two times were at the World Indoor Championships and the Continental Cup, two of the biggest meets of the year.
Hooker still has the Commonwealth Games on his plate, while I am not sure if there is anything left for Lavillenie (is there a Francophone Games this year?).

Re: AOY - Lavillenie or Hooker?
Actually, will be interesting to see how Malte Mohr ranks. He beat Hooker more on head to head and also jump 5.90. Lavillenie is the European Champion and the overall DL winner. I think the nod goes to the Frenchman. He does have two more competitons. Next week, DecaNations. Commonwealth Games will not have any other World top 10 rank athletes to duel.
DecaNations should feature, Lavillenie, Miles,Mohr,Gibilisco who rank top 10.

Re: AOY - Lavillenie or Hooker?
Mohr has had a great season. I think he would be a lock for the #3 position, but I think Lavillenie and Hooker have too many Championship titles this year to be surpassed.
