New Standards Rule?

Unread postby buonoxc » Sat Feb 27, 2010 3:08 pm

I was watching a meet (in florida) yesterday and a kid said he wanted his standards at 13. So that caught my attention and I aksed the person who was signing the vaulters in "did he say 13?" She told me that that kids coach had informed her that the rules changed for standards and they are aloud to go that low now?

Considering how they want to make this sport safer I thought this did not make sense at all! Anybody know?

Minimum standard placement is still 15.5" and maximum is 31.5. It is amazing that even the most simple rules are not known. Either the coach did not know the rule or lied. Which is worse???

what's worse is the person running the event does not know the correct range.

Could this have been a USATF "OPEN" meet with high school aged competitors?

If it were USATF the official would have been using metric... 13cm is WAY too close! :dazed:
Whether you believe you can or cannot, you're right.

I agree that it is too close, but for a USATF meet it is legal.
