Yikes!

Unread postby yankee814 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 9:46 pm

Alright so heres the bad news....

I'm on a 12' 6" 145 Pacer holding at 12' right now, but im over bending it like crazy, and im not pulling on it according to the feedback i've heard...

so clearly I need a new pole, but my PR hasn't increased to where I wanted to be at this point while on that pole (I wanted around 11'6" or so). So in short, I need something that I'll be able to continue to move up on...

Alright so here are the choices: (putting an 'x' against the ones i feel are too small)
X11'6 140
X12' 150
X12'6 145
13'6 140
13 150
14 140
14 145

But I've tried to get on the 13' 150 and the 13' 6 140 but I just haven't been able to get up on it, I'm not very tall (5'6") but according to charts, my speed, and the weights im able to lift I should be able to get up on them

help please

Big question ,(as always), when you move to the 13x150 or the 13' 6" x140 are you gripping the same. In other words at 12 feet on the pole. If you are then that's too big of a jump in poles for now. You can do a quick check for stiffness by doing a wall plant with each pole and see which ones feel stiffer holding on at the same grip. Now......you only mentioned what your grip is and that you haven't made 11' 6" yet with the pole you are currently using so I'm guessing that you are making 11' with a 12 foot grip. That's not the worst thing in the world. I usually have DJ's chart handy but I don't right now so I can't tell you what you should be able to make with a 12 foot grip. I don't think you're too far off. Getting back to moving to the 13 or 13' 6" poles. Find the one that is the softer of the two (but stiffer than the 12' 6" gripped at 12 feet) and hold at 12 feet and see how she goes. If you're not getting into the pit lower you grip and work you're way back up on the longer pole. Now all of this is dependent on if you really are mooshing out the 12' 6" x 145 pole. Obviously there are probably a couple of technical things that are causing your delimma but you asked about the poles and this is what I addressed. Hope it works out................Later...........Mike

P.S. Are they all Pacers and are they all about the same age?

Thanks for the help!

I tried that and the 13' 150 is duable but is still a little stiff, its a skypole and is probably about 10 or so years old. The 13'6 140 is a Pacer that is brand new, just bought this year.

Counties, tomorrow!

Try to borrow a 13'140 or 145 or 12'6 150 or 155.

If you can't find one to borrow, use your 12'6 145 from a run that is one left shorter than normal. If you blow through it from that run (landing deep, not just bending a lot), then back up to your longer run and use the 13'150.
