Mel missed the box and planted on the pit in that one. She says that happens to her about once every other yr or so, just happened to catch that one on tape and now it has been shared....................with all of us.
Of course she was prob short running on a 13' 6" 190#. I could loan her my poles, honestly!! She is a BEAST on the runway.

I did the exact same thing once in HS with the exact same result, except I landed on my feet and ran out of it. Mine was due to a nasty crosswind that gusted right when I planted. Got it on video, but I have no way of tranferring it over to my HD. I hate to go offtopic, but can anyone (hint: Sean) point me to where I need to start looking to transfer video from VHS onto my PC?

They may want to move that bleacher a little farther out of the way.
Bryan,
when you say you can loan her your pole I know what you mean. I didn't think of it much at the time but when she first started vaulting she would come up and vault with us. After she got off the trainers the first pole she used was coaches pole the smallest pole in our series, it was either a 15' 150 or 155 sky pole, This was when there was only 14', 15', 15'9" etc...being made and nothing for women. Again it really didn't hit me at the time b/c there was no women's vault, so I never had any thing to compare it to (except it ws the smallest stick there that no one ever used) until I got back into the sport 4 years ago. Now I look back and just shake my head at how amazing it was that she could grab that big of a pole as a beginner. Of course now isn't the biggest pole in her series around a 15'6" 170?

An optimist is one who sees a light in darkness....a pessimist blows it out.
