Bubba is going to the land of OZ
Most of you are probably aware of this already, but my good friend and mentor (one of the many) Doug "Bubba" Sparks is currently training for the World Masters competition in Austrailia in October. It was suggested to him and he thought too that it would be a good idea to blog a journal of his training and what he's doing to get ready for the competition. He's been at it for a couple of weeks so you'll have a little catching up to do but it's well worth the read. The blog I think will serve as a great "how to" for many of us, Masters especially, on how to prepare for a big meet, or a season for that matter. You can find his blog at http://pvoztrip.blogspot.com/ . GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BUBBA!

WOW! Thanks Mike. I didn't think anyone would really read it. I was just putting it out there to manage my stress and anxiety and keep family and friends in the loop. I can't afford to pull up lame before I get there like the National Senior Games. Bubba

Bubba,
Your blog, like your site, is a fascinating read. Its a great insight into the process which all athletes go through in preparation for competition. The more years on a frame, the less room there is for error, but I imagine the "rules" for a masters athlete apply to elites and to high schoolers as well. The primary difference is the margin of error in training... the older we get past a certain age, the less forgiving our bodies are. Keep posting. You are advancing my education as a coach.
On a side note... I lived in Sydney for four years and made that crossing numerous times. You hopefully have lots of advice for your trip, but if you want to chat, there are one or two choice spots in Sydney that are a must visit... so PM me.

Thanks Wilson. Glad to finally get officially on the board. Have spent the last three years reading posts but my school wouldn't let me on the site. Finally broke down and
bought my own computer. Still trying to learn how to use it. Take care,
