Does anybody know what the American / World Record is for lefties? If so, where can I find this documented?

Im not 100% posotive, but im pretty sure that Simon Arkell ( Australia) has the WR. It's around 19'2-19'4". Thats just from hear-say, sorry i dont have any documentation on it.

Pretty sure Simon Arkell has the world lefty record at 5.80m.

Not sure of the American, but possibly Dave Roberts at like 5.70?

Gus could probably tell you and find documentation through Roger Ruth, who keeps track of EVERYTHING. Email him at vaultngus@vaultworld.com

Brent Burns? 5.72m?

For some reason this seems correct.

Burns' best was 5.70 which he cleared like 20 times.

Arkell is still the best leftie with 5.80.

Bernt Burns was probably was the most talented American vaulter that never jumped 19 feet. Like Achtung said, he jumped 5.70 more times than you can count, but never got the big 19 footer in. This guy should probably have jumped 6 meters.

Guru is right, he had loads of talent...he was also an NCAA qualifier in the 110H while at Cal.

Mark Buse - 5.66 - Indiana Univ.

He should be in the top 5 for lefties.

If memory serves me correctly, the very first person who ever vaulted 18 feet was left-handed: Christos Papanicolaou from Greece. 18'01/4 October 24, 1970.

Lefties

Unread postby SlickVT » Fri Nov 07, 2003 9:52 am

Haha, weird-ass lefties. They just love doing things bass-akwards. Haha just playin. Me and a friend of mine (both righty vaulters) tried vaulting lefty over the summer a while back for fun. In three days time I had quit and he was clearing 14'. I was really impressed. Anyway, hope you all like the story.
