so is this stuff just like box tape with color? What is it made of and do you have any idea of how it will affect the stiffness of the pole?

VP, this stuff is much stronger than duct tape. If you break a pole, you just wrap it in pirate tape, and it's as good as new! ;)

And if you want to increase the stiffness of your pole without buying a new one, just a few wraps of pirate tape does the trick! ;)

I don't know what box tape is.

The stuff I have for sale right now is similar to what most Spirit and ESSX poles are wrapped in, not quite as thick as the stuff most Gill or ESSX poles are wrapped in. It does not impact the flex # of the pole. I guess it could make the carry weight an ounce heavier, but if you strip the old stuff off first it would not be any heavier.

It is pretty heavy duty, the poles I first wrapped in it over a year ago are holding up well, just the normal wear and tear that comes with lots of kids banging them around and kicking them.

I wanted to get more pictures, but forgot my camera, so that will have to wait until next week probably.

I am getting tape wholesale from a few different suppliers. I am working with two more and might have a LOT of new designs by the end of the summer.
