Getting closer Tim. But Skipper cleared 18' on 4 other meets. Get that one too! Get the 18' jump then the record!

You just had to rub that in, didn't you, Rick! :D

I wonder how high Skipper jumped in his first outdoor meet of the year in HS? :)

OK if memory serves me correctly, Skipper broke his hand indoors and his first meet outdoors was his district qualifying meet. I think he did 14' or 15' something, just to qualify to state. Then he won state the next weekend. Then he jumped at the MOC the following weekend. Then he broke the Nationals Record after that at Golden West.

How's my memory Rick? What other meets did Tommy jump 18' in? I remember him almost missing the pit at Clovis!

My memory serves me the same becca. He broke his hand indoor. Jumped like 14'6 at his qualifying, then like 17'7 at the state meet, then a couple weeks later 18'3 at like his 4th outdoor meet of the year. Maybe he jumped 18 in practice 4 times or something?

It indeed was 18'3" at Golden West. That's the same meet Kira jumped really high, too.

Tommy's outdoor season in 2003 posted on Tilastopaja.

5.36 1-HS Eugene OR 30 May
5.56 SB (53) 1-HS Golden West Sacramento CA 15 Jun
5.50 1-19 NC-j Stanford CA 21 Jun

And his 2004 season when he was no longer a Jr.

5.15i 3 Husky Seattle WA 17 Jan
5.50i 1 Bodybuilding Nampa ID 31 Jan
5.71i PB (18) 1 United Heritage Nampa ID 7 Feb
5.53i 1 MPSF Seattle WA 27 Feb
5.60i 2 NCAA Fayetteville AR 13 Mar
5.35 1 Preview Eugene OR 20 Mar
5.40 6=cA TexasR Austin TX 3 Apr
5.31 1 Pepsi Eugene OR 10 Apr
5.42 2 Twilight Eugene OR 1 May
5.30 D Pac 10 Tucson AZ 8 May
5.57 1 Pac 10 Tucson AZ 14 May
5.75 SB (21) 1 West Northridge CA 29 May
5.30 4=qA NCAA Austin TX 10 Jun
5.70 1 NCAA Austin TX 12 Jun
5.60 8 Pre Eugene OR 19 Jun
5.40 8=qA OT Sacramento CA 9 Jul

So I think the 4 18ft clearances were referring to his 2004 season.

so he was referring to his freshman year in college? That really doesnt apply. To me it sounded like he was saying that jack should get consistent at 18 before trying to jump straight to 18'4.

It all depends on how the vaulter is jumping that day. I thought Jack had another 4 1/2 inches in him. He blew out his biggest pole on his third try. His second try he was over 18.03 1/2 and caught it on the backside. . He will jump 18 no problem but if he is on we will go 18.3 1/2 for the record. Besides 18 puts him at 5 all time anyway. He is 7 now. Next year he will be on 5.10 maybe 5.20 meter poles freshman year in college. Look out 19 feet.
