Women's Prelims play by play
Remember, viewers on the west coast trying to watch on TV (though I don't know that they will show any updates from prelims on NBC) won't get to see until nearly 24 hours after the event.
The competition begins at 10:10am Beijing time, which I believe is 7:10/10:10pm in the US.
As far as I know, there will be no websites with live scoring like we see from nearly every major meet these days. Something about the IAAF not buying the rights to it?
I'll do my best to pass along any updates I can find. I suspect we will have better options for the finals.

Re: Live updates from Women's Prelims - discuss here only!
I predict 4.50 with no misses will probably make finals, but there is certainly the potential for it to take 4.60. I predict most of the top dogs come in at 4.50, with Isi and maybe Jenn coming in at 4.60.
4.00 seems like kind of a low opening height though, glad they are going 15cm the next two heights after that.

Anyone from non-US countries want to post updates from your TV coverage? Let us know what you have access to so that we're not duplicating efforts.

Re: Live updates from Women's Prelims
cbc.ca/olympics/livevideo/ is planning live coverage of the women's quals, starting at 6:45 Vancouver time. If that's their correct schedule, Seattle should be able to get the program (on one of nine internet channels they're promising to use for this and other concurrent events) at this time and other USA viewers in their equivalent time zone. Hope so!

for today it says "Also, coverage of track and field." on NBC (note this is for my area, pennsylvania), but it doesn't specifically mention pole vaulting.
man, i'll be pretty annoyed if they don't show the prelims.

Aw shucks. That's what the result was when I tried to subscribe to msnbc.com The first thing they asked for was my "zip code." I typed in my (Canadian) postal code. Ball game over.

Re: Live updates from Women's Prelims - discuss here only!
No, there will not be any coverage of the women's pole vault on NBC tonight. If they show any of the vaults it will be tomorrow night. Tonight's coverage will probably have the women's hep, 10k, 800 prelims, men's 100 prelims, and shot put finals.
For those on the west coast, the NBC coverage will often be nearly 24 hours behind schedule, and never live, despite what the logo says (it's tape delayed from the east coast).
