15'1" 12.7 flex

Unread postby Jplatel5000 » Sun Jul 20, 2008 12:46 am

i was wondering if anyone could give me an estimate of what the weight rating would be for a 15' 1" pole with a 12.7 flex in all brands, would the weight rating be identical throughout all pole manufacturers, or are poles flexed differently in different companies?

2.1 flex for every 10 pounds could be a 200 then

It's not exactly 2.1cm for 10lbs the whole way through. When you start getting into the really stiff poles, it is a smaller increment to be 10lbs, in the really soft poles it is a bigger increment.

When you get below a certain point in pole flex (approx 15.0) then the weight rating becomes almost meaningless. A 15' 12.7 is a 15' 12.7. It is smalller than a 11.7 and bigger than a 13.7. The weight rating is of little to no use in a pole that size.

Hi there,
We have a UCS 4.60 12.6 flex. The weight rating, while irrelevant at this point--all of us were WAY under--is '200', though the label is handwritten, so I'm guessing Spirit doesn't make 15' poles that stiff too often.
