No, I think he has gone at least 490. But I DO think it is a PR of some kind.

Did you guys see the coverage! More jumps for the decathlon were showed than there were for the actual PV! Thats funny! But dang, what a clearance by Pappas on 17-1! All 3 of those guys seem pretty technically sound!! :)

the whole 1500 thing is the killer for almsot all fo them.... once Eaton gets his throws under controll he will be on up there, with big range from 100 to 1500. But when you think of it a 4:50 is fast for that jogging pace, that comes down to about a 5:10 mile... look at your usual sprinter, none of them could run that, I ran XC for three years and that almost as fast as my pr (never said i was that good)

Oh, no doubt... there's is know way I would even come close to that fresh.. let alone as the 10th event in 2 days. They are intense athletes. The nature of the decathlon though is in favor of a sprinter type body with the 100, LJ, 110s, 400 and Vault. Some events are not big scoring events even if you are really good, however a talented sprinter can make up some mad points there.

8,534 points WOW! That's one massive dec, with room to still grow in the throws and 1500 no less. Congrats on the performance and good luck in Beijing against Clay, Maurice, and the Czechs!

And for those that might look at the PV dec results and wonder why these amazing all-around athletes are "only" vaulting around 5-ish meters, vault in a dec is NOTHING like vault by itself. It's the 8th event and is on the day after you run a 400m.

I'm pretty sure Trey has vaulted higher in a decathlon before. His lifetime PV PR is from an indoor heptathlon.

Trey we all expect to see 5.50 in Beijing ;)
