Cross is always good too. Ive been doing it since 6th grade and the transition from distance to sprint will come if you work hard over the off season. And it gives you a good base for running

If you do XC just make sure 1 or 2 of the workouts a week are sprint-based. Get quick turnover and get it rolling after you run, and it will be easier to transition to track again.

i had to get my physical so i had to decide to what i was going to do then. Im going to stick with field hockey. Some of my friends told me that the varsity and jv does a whole lot more running than what the jh coach made us do. we work out with varsity a couple weeks before school starts, so that will help me for fall. ill just have to run and stuff this summer and do running club in the winter. I'll have my daddy help me with other excercises since he was into a lot of sports when he was younger and he knows some excercises.
