Bending Poles On a Higher Weight?
I weigh around 140 but i vault on a 150 pole, this pole has been used a lot and I can bend it like a person who weighs 150, would it be safe for me to jump on a 140 pole?

It's all relative to the length of the pole: http://www.skyjumpers.com/articles/pvpr ... table.html

Depending on how fast you're running, it really might NOT be safe, because you could end up WAY too deep in the pit (possibly behind it). You probably wouldn't snap the pole though, if that's what you're asking, pscranton. But like vaulterboy said, don't go down in weight (unless you really have absolutely no choice). Research the pole progression chart. Read it, understand it, apply it.

It's got to be the second scariest thing in pole vaulting, behind falling toward unprotected standards, and in front of falling toward the box(3rd). (Done all of them!) I've never snapped a pole, but I would probably think that it's over so fast that you don't even have time to freak out, but these three things let you think about what might happen to you...

how about falling outside the pit on the runway? hahah i rushed a vault in practice because coaches were calling us in and i was so far out that i ended up landing back on the runway. that was probably my worst experience as a vaulter.
