Absolutely, there are college open meets. You might not see as much of it at invites, but if you are good enough at a D3 you can not only compete at open meets you can win. You just have completely different regional and national qualifying meets and championships.

Just depends on what schedule the DIII school picks. Most schools pick a schedule that has DI competitors, but it depends a lot on location and attitude of the coaching staff.

At La Crosse we competed against D1 all the time... just a matter of how your coach makes his schedule

as long as you like the atmosphere, academics, and know that the college you go to wont coach you down then your set. unfortunatley theres a ton of instences where 15 6 or 16 ft vaulters go off to college and are never heard of again because of some bogus coaching staff. its sad but happens.
