well 9'6" today new PR but i wanted 10' soo bad because i think that was the cut off for leagues.....so i guess singing in my head worked to an extent :)

the best thing i found was just every night before bed, visualize yourself vaulting with perfect form for about 15 minutes. It helped me finally get into to double digits on my height.

well i dont know now, im on the edge of getting into leagues but my elbow is sooo annoying, my left elbow wen i push up while planting the pole, gets so bad. im not sure what ill do if i get into leagues because im doing a summer club and i want to be ready to improve as much as possible there and rest my elbow for a while. but thanks mrcub ill definitely give that a try if i compete at leagues.

Don't think, just do! You know how to vault and if you're having mental problems of just even getting off the ground, don't think - just do. I had a very mental week last week and that phrase really helped. But always know you can get out of it. You won't be in the slump forever.

Taking a break helps too, like a week of no vaulting, maybe some light training, but that's it. Maybe this won't work right now since you have a competition coming up, but for future slumps...

Taking a break really helps. All of my vaulters took a week long break and worked on another event. When they all came back they all got their PR. I did the same thing in Guitar Hero and finally beat a song I couldn't get through on the first try. :)

i agree with asianvaulter. clear your mind. meets are not the time to think about what you are doing, that is what practice is for. at least for me, i dont like looking at the bar, it just psychs me out. just know that you can do it, you have done it before, just do it again...
the solution to any pole vault problem:

Wanting something to happen, can have detrimental effects on performance during competition (but not always). It depends on how ingrown your technique is, and you know how to curb the effects of arenaline and nervousness.

Get yourself a ritual. Some sort of pre-jump routine (not referring to anything happening during take-off), that relieves your mind of planning what you are about to do. The idea is, that once this routine is started, should it be very hard (or at least harder) to interrupt the vaulters mind with unneeded input. His mind and body goes on autopilot, doing what he has done numerous times in both training, other competitions and visualized jumps (yes, visualize yourself jumping perfect whenever you have a spare moment). It requires, that this routine is used at every time. Including the 6.40 jump you visualize.....

Learn to know how your body reacts to pressure. Will adrenaline mess up your run-up? What about peer pressure?

I have a big mental problem. Well I think I do. I am a sophomore girl pole vaulter and my PR is 11"9". I have jumped it 2 twice and I have vaulted 11'6" many times. But once the bar goes up to 12', I just freak myself out. I try not to but I look like a totally different vaulter. My jumps dont look the same as my 11'9" ones. And I know I can clear 12 because I clear 11'9 by about eight inches. I dont know what my problem is. I dont usually use a bar during practice. Its just sooooo frustrating!

I've had a high jumper that could clear 5'2" no problem, but when the bar went to 5'4", she locked up. She was more converned with the humber than the actual height. I would raise then bungee on her without her knowing, eventually she got over the mental block.

With my pole vaulter I've been known to sneak the bar up withput her knowing. For a while she could jump heights over 9'0" and i would raise the bar to 9'3" or 9'6", when she cleared the bungee I'd let her know what I did. Needless to say she PR'd this season at 10'1" (as a frosh) and she's been hitting 11'+ at camp this week. 12' is only a number; focus on form and not the height and you should hit it without a problem.
