sliding down
how do you fix the problem of sliding down when straight poling?

Make sure you: take-off free, aren't holding way too high, have a good tape job, aren't double-leg swinging, (just thought of that now, and it makes sense, since it might put too much energy in for you to hold on to the pole...) are running fast and tall, and jump as high and hard as you can.

i posted this for all the freshman vaulters in my school,,, they all slide down the pole, ,and stall out,,, some of them do the double leg swing but not too sure how to tell them to fix it...
whenever i tell them to run harder and jump up,,, they dont.. and i know i dont... its hard to run faster and try and jump up...

I coach a pair middle school girl vaulters that will slide their bottom hand up to the top grip and then "helicopter" around the pole.
They are both 7th grade 5'5, 115 on a 10'6 120 (mystic) holding at 9'. Both have a PR of 7'6 and have been vaulting about 2 months
The helicopter only happens in warm up runs and when they get nervous about a higher height.
One will have the top hand slide problem mentioned earlier, but I found that this happens when she is way to far in.
