How do i get myself to invert?

How do i get myself able to invert on the pole. while in the air all i do is tuck myself into a ball. I need to be able to invert and turn. How can i do this?

(The most common thing with beginners is of course, first, everything else before inversion is attempted is wrong, and second, many try to pull their way up and get ready to kick out at a bar or whatever.)
