Pole vaulting bags

Ok i am lookign to buy a pole vaulting travel bag. I have seen many vaulters with just long bags and other people with the long bags with these hard black tubes in them. So my question is do those bags u can order from everythign track and field come with those black tubes or do u have to order those separate?

i think those black tubes are just drainage tubes that you can buy at most hardware stores. i could be wrong though, but thats what they look like to me

well dang that means i have to pay 200 bucks for just a leather bag how bogus lol but ok thanks i will look into it more

buy some of the tubing and just seal up one end really well.

Well pvcp pipe is almost 200 bucks if I order it because I want it to be about 15 in wide. So I figered I would get something that looked good if i was going to spend the money. But does anyone know for sure that the black rigid tubing does or does not come with it.

im almost positive that it does not come with it!.... we put ours in on our own.... they leave black marks all over the poles... but they work really well for protection!!

I paid $20.00 for two 10 foot pieces of 6 inch black drainage tubbing and a connecter at Lowes a lumber store and cut to size. Also you can buy cheaper bags around $125.00, Just google pole vault equipment and search.

There's a cheap way to avoid the black marks on the poles from the black drainage pipe. You can buy bulk fabric filter sleeve material that is designed to slide over the outside of the drainage pipes that have holes in them to keep soil out. It costs around $20 for 100'. Cut it a foot or two longer than the pole, use a zip tie to seal one end of the fabric sleeve, turn it inside out and voila, you have a pole sock that will keep the tube from marking it and otherwise protect it from banging around with the other poles in the tube.

PVC pipe is really really heavy. Use the black plastic drainage tubes if you ever hope to carry your poles by yourself.

I made my own pole bag in high school, it cost me $40 and it looked as good as any pacer or spirit bag (plus it was school colors ). Find the length and diameter you will need, and find some tough, weatherproof fabric at a fabric store, buy that and 2 metal clips, along with material to make handles and shoulder straps. Find somebody with a sewing machine to stitch the fabric together into a bag (had a family friend do it) and attach the straps, then put a drawstring on one end. Buy the black drainage tubes in whatever length and put them inside the bag. Worked great and lasted me 5 years!
