Congratulations to Master on another WR!

Since Master is not one to brag, I would like to congratulate him on his age group world record. I was busy taping the elite competition with Dr. McGinnis, so I don't know all the details, but I think he jumped something like 4 meters.

Other masters division records were set, most notably by Pat Manson and Jeff Hartwig (who broke Pat's record after he held it for an hour); but of the group that set masters records, Master is the only regular poster that I know of.

Thanks for the post Wilson (vaultmd). It was great talking with you at the Summit.

This particular jump is one of those that didn't deserve to be of significance. By this I mean it wasn't that good of a jump even though I was able to save it. When I got home and looked at the video I saw that my take off foot was more than 1.5 feet under. In addition, it was way off center to the right. From that start, I am surprised I was able to swing at all. I bumped the bar pretty hard on the way down, but it stayed up for me.

Any way, sometimes luck is with ya and sometimes its again' ya. I have to accept it when goes against me so I'll accept it when it works in my favor. However, since I can't count on good luck, I'm back working to improve a lot of aspects of my vault.

You can see for yourself with this link to the video. Thanks a lot to my friend and fellow vaulter Don Curry for taking the video.

John, Congratulations! At that height -- anytime the bar stays up
it's a darn good vault. Plan to see you at Nationals.
