I am requesting information on a design or blueprint for having my construction and/or metals class make a pit cover.

You might talk to Kelly Walsh HS in Casper, WY. They have a metal/ fiberglass pit cover mounted on wheels so they just roll it on and off. They could give you dimensions and/or information on where to go next.

Shoreline stadium has one that must be homemade... It is made out of metal fence. I don't know if the pieces are welded together or what. The wheels come off, so you just roll it over the pit, close the gate part (which has a lock on it), then pull the wheels off, which drops the cage on the ground and no one is moving that thing unless they have the wheels and a key to the lock.
