what about Brits. There's a beastly guy that just gets on even beastlier poles. If that guy can drive that head low, lose his hips quick, get stuck in the bucket all day, and still jump 6 meters and currently be IAAF's ranking leader in the event then i'd say he's probably on some monster poles. Oh yea, he also looks like he's weighs well over two bills.

Brits holds down on 5.20's. Hes a big dude but has no hops. watch how he drops his head and shoulders at takeoff.

I vaguely remember seeing video of Brits jumping 6 meters without even getting his pole to near vertical. Anyone else recall that happening? Also, for the record, I've never turned up a jump on a 5meter pole let alone a 5.10. But I don't jump high either. My poles are 16' long. I do have a series of 5meter poles that I will go to when I can efficiently jump with a higher grip, but I've got to get some legs, testosterone, some quick twitch fiber, and straighter teeth. I may even need to learn to jump off the ground. Who knows. But back to the thread shall we. . . beer. . . I like Red Hook.

Vadim from KU Capped 5.20s at 2002 Indoor ncaas and blew through a 11.4 and was going to move to a 10.4 and they were Carbon FXs. Of course he jumped right over them. I saw him jump 5.80 on a 5.20 10.8 in practice.

Back when Adam Keul was at SFA, he was on some pretty huge poles. 5.20, and 5.10's. I think he usually jumped on a 12.7, and jumped on a 12.3 some times. AND.......he was capping them. Him and I had alot of fun duking it out every week in 2000. I still think I beat him more than he beat me though

Brian Hunter, and Jacob Davis were on some cannons too....I think Brian was on an 11.8, and Jacob was on a 5m 10.2 when he jumped 5.90. Jacob was one of the big guys that didn't have to hold REALLY high to jump high. He was a giant.....I think he was 6'4 220.

Hunter left his warm-up pole here when he transferred. Its a 5 meter 200 (14.4?), and he CAPPED it. Pretty sure it was a 5 or 6 left warmup pole.
Coach says the first time he tried to get on a 5.20 pole, he held at 5.20, came screamin down the runway and just did it.

I remembered the first time i saw keul jump (my sophmore year in hs), scared the crap out of me! i was like is that what your supposed to look like to jump high? He came barreling from about 10 lefts on a humangus pole, It was bigger around than my arm at the time! He yelled at takeoff and tried to go over 18ft on his back. And he almost made it! I guess he hadnt learned to turn and push yet?

Maybe less beer - would be less"chunky" faster? - nah - to old - Andeker Dark with a pizza from Pipe Organ Pizza - now that will get you onto short bigs sticks - how about a 4m 12.9 Had some Fisher Strong in India - that was not bad - much better than the water
