Does a pole wrap serve any other purpose tham to decorate the pole? Obvisouly it advertises the manufacturer and sometimes identifies the soft side, but does it add or take away anything from how the pole moves and bends?
Would an unwrapped pole perform any differently tham a wrapped pole?
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thank you!

Re: pole wraps?
NO! It may help against nicks and dings? But in relation to the bend... That is all in the pole material!
I know of people that add a layer of wrap for more protection...
I know people that take off the wrap because they want the pole 2 oz lighter????

IAAF looking at a posible new rule no tape on butt!
I guess Bubka is still doing what he can to pass rules to keep his record! grin
IAAF is discussing clams a wrap or anything to keep the box away from the pole creates a greater angle and is an advantage to the Jumper.
There may be a rule soon on this matter!
To disallowed on a IAAF level. For High School you can, but a build up will create a greater angle in the box so too much will effect the jump.
( kind of like that pole tip)
I am working on a curly wrap that requires no tape that seems to be lighter than PVC cups and tape!
Email me for more info still testing it!
It is not for sale yet!
The angles keep the pole protected and the plastic is concave to allow some flexibility of the protector! This pole was too small for this one so the gaps would not show on a larger pole! Any testers out there? 44
