Me and my friend need to make some pole vault standards(my school is cheap) and needs some ideas on how to go about doin that, pictures blueprints anything will help. the cool thing is i get to make them in the school shop HAHA

As a welder, all I can tell u is to get ur basic measurements from another school's standards and go from there.

For the base, 2 inch angle and 2 inch square tubing should suffice, just make sure they slide.

Fore the standards, some strong rectangle tubing (maybe 2x4 or 3x6) and flatbar surrounding the rectangular tubing to slide up and down. A nut welded on low on the standards and a bolt to screw on would keep the standards in place.

Some 1 inch pipe belt in a U could connect the standards to the pegs.

I might suggest that you dual sheild weld everything and make sure that all your 90s are exactly 90s. Jigs help. This sounds like a cool project--if you have any more questions just pm me. Good luck
