Don't ever give up. if ANYTHING, keep learning about the event. If you are having trouble vaulting, coach it. I am a firm believer that the teacher(coach) always learns more than the student. For example, a teacher in a class must learn the subject enough to teach it and answer any questions that may arise.

I agree with you to have vaulted is really beneficial to coaching the event. Not a requirement but it will help

take a step back and realize why you started vaulting in the first place. Basically no one starts vaulting saying "i wanna get this hieght". Its because its FUN. The only people who i suggest quit are those who are bored because they cant do it. Pole vaulting is for fun whether you jump 17's or 7's. Just dont put expectations on yourself and see how it goes. THe only time i put expecations on myself is when i think it would be fun to try to meet them! good luck
