I was wondering if anyone would be interested in coming to Hawaii next December (2006) for vacation and a pole vault camp topped off with a competition at the end. It would be held at the University of Hawaii where there is a screaming tail-wind most of the time
.
If there is enough interest, we could probably bring in some elite pole vaulters as well as coaches.
Interested coaches so far include Brian Yokoyama of Mt. San Antonio College, Pat Licari of the University of Washington, and Alan Launder of Australia. Of course I will be there too (Spencer Chang, University of Hawaii). The number and quality of coaches will also be determined by the number of vaulters we can get at the camp.
Interested elite vaulters have included Brad Walker, Tim Mack, Toby Stevenson, Tye Harvey, Bubba McLean, Russ and Dana Buller and basically just about any elite vaulter (if we can make enough money to send them over). Who knows, perhaps we can make a little elite competition too.
If we get enough interest, (approximately 100 people), we'll set up a hotel vacation package, and do the camp. The more people, the cheaper it will be.
