most NEGATIVE push off ever...

Unread postby bjvando » Mon May 09, 2005 2:41 pm

We've all seen people jump over thier grip..

BUT.. what is the highest hand hold, compared to the lowest bar you've seen made with that hand hold..

example- gripping 15' and jumping over 12'..

and we all know that one person we jumped against that jumped higher than us JUST BECAUSE they held 2' higher than us

i've personally seen some people grip about 14 6 on a 15' pole jumping over 13'...

what you're talking about is exceptionally bad when the person just sits over the bar, never getting any sort of inversion. There's one girl in my area that has been going over 8' on average sitting over the bar, and i swear she's holding at the top of a 12' pole.

LOL - A kid I just started coaching jumped 11'6 at his District Championship Meet gripping like 14'9 on a 15' 170 from 18 steps. In one week I had him over 13'0 gripping 12'6 on a 14' 165 from 10 steps.

Tommy Matthews was a pretty high gripper in high school, and I've heard when he got to college he was gripping even higher. He was really TALL (played basketball for his college as well)

I think that there are only about 3 people that jump above their girp in my whole conference. But at one meet i saw a kid coming in a 10 capping a 14 180. :dazed:
