well, i have a project in philsophy on art. We just have to bring in an object that we think is art, present it, and tell why....of course since i vault and an addicting, and i do think it qualified as an art, i need some good points that make it an art.

all i know is to say something about everything has to be perfect and there are so many small things you have to get right in the matter of 3 seconds and make it all flow perfectly together to get your best jumps...

so why is pole vaulting an art for you?

To me art is the perfection of the human form and mans actions. So pretty much vaulting is the action of defying gravity which in itself is art. Points that Pole Vaulting is an art: the subtle things make a big diffrence, the gymnastics that are required at the top of the pole are so fluid it mesmorizes people, the sound of the pole slidding into the box and the pole bend and recoil is like hitting the perfect C note.

"Some people create with words or with music or with a brush and paints. I like to make something beautiful when I run. I like to make people stop and say, 'I've never seen anyone run like that before.' It's more than just a race, it's a style. It's doing something better than anyone else. It's being creative."-- Steve Prefontaine

I could see vaulting in the same light.
