Encouragement

A coach of mine sent this to me about 4 and a half years ago, when I was trying to make the team at my first university. I didn't make the team, but I never gave up on pole vaulting either.

"Sounds like your going to have some pretty stiff competition to make the vault team.  Whatever happens don't let any setbacks discourage you.  Use them to your advantage.  I've come to realize that the best athletes are those who have to work twice as hard as everyone else just to keep up. The traits you learn trying to keep up will eventually be the catalysts that allows you to surpass the so called naturally gifted athlete.  I have full confidence you will succeed. "

I think that is going to be me this year...I'm a 13 ft. jumper and going to Cal Poly SLO next year....Unless i start jumping higher i don't have a chance to make the team. But that is some encouraging advice!
There is no secret to jumping high...It just takes hard work.
