What other events do you do?

Unread postby CHC04Vault » Mon Feb 28, 2005 12:09 am

In high school not only did i do pole vault, but i did long, triple and high jump. I also did the 4x100 and 4x200. Im just wondering what other events other people did. Im tryin to see if any1 did a distance double and pole vault (that would be kinda funny.)

I ran each of these events at one point in my high school "career". Meaning, I actually did these events for an entire season (or more)

high jump
100
200
55
600 (god I hated that)
400
4x200
4x100
4x400

last year all i did was pole vault but this year my coach thought it would be funny to put me in other events... :dazed: in our first meet, i competed in both the long jump and high jump, even though i had never done either of them before in practice. long jump isn't so hard, it's like pole vaulting without a pole. but high jump was crazy!! my back has never hurt so much! i don't think it's supposed to bend that way! i've been continuing to compete in the other events just because i have nothing else to do. i probably will drop high jump come outdoor season but i want to stick with long jump because it will help with vaulting.

High jump is easy...with a pole ;)

I also forgot the 55, 60H, and 110H. But i only did those 2 or 3 times in 4 years.

my coach would always run me in a 800 and 400 in a meet as well as pole vault, either in open events or relays, diff every time. so either dmr 4x8 or 4x4. and i also did jav freshman yr fro fun, but i sucked. sometimes he had me do the 200 freshman yr. i think outdoors ill be doing 1200s alot in a dmr, i did them alot indoors last yr.
also ran xc. so yes i did do distance and pole vault.
i run, therefore im buff.

One time in practice we took out this 5 foot stubbie and we put the cross bar up at the high jump mat and tried to clear it. obviously no where near correct vaulting technique though.

I started out as a high jumper, that was what I did in middle school. Then in high school i did pole vault and triple jump, also all of the basketball players came out and started jumping. ;)
