Subject: Pole Vault Manual
INTRODUCTION AND RECOMMENDATION
I am a pole vaulter of 5 years, and I have always noticed a distinct lack of a complete manual for beginner pole vaulters. When I first asked my high school track and field coach for information on the pole vault, I was handed this massive folder full of articles and papers published from as far back as the 1980’s with no new updates since then. While there are plenty of articles and sources for all stages of the pole vault, there are no full sources that a beginner vaulter can access for any and all questions.
I want to change that fact with the creation of a manual that includes everything a beginner should know, as well as enough knowledge in it that even an advanced pole vaulter can refer to it for help.
COSTS AND BENEFITS
This manual, when completed, will cover everything about the pole vault. This will include the basics such as poles, understanding the physics, drills, and more complicated issues such as the later stages of the vault like the rock back and push off.
The manual will be broken up into categories:
• Introduction and Warning,
• Poles and Pits, Drills, and the
• Vault.
The vault section will be broken up to deal with every step of the vault specifically, such as the run, plant, take off, rock back, and push off. For all this information, I will be pulling information off sites and articles that cover the vault, and leave proper knowledge of where I got information from.
I intend to also produce this manual in an online format. The website I will be designing will coincide to the same colors as I will be using in the manual, with a complete website based layout, with easier access to certain sections in the manual by links. The manual itself will be available at this site for print in its original format as an adobe acrobat reader (.pdf) file.
CONCLUSION
This manual will improve the beginners’ knowledge of the pole vault as well as be an excellent source of information for the seasoned vaulter. It will improve safety by providing this better understanding.

What do you guys think? We also have to make a "survey" so I'm probably going to post that here too for your help. This is for my technical writing class here at Worcester State, but I feel this would be an awesome thing to do and I think it would defintely benefit the pole vault community
