By far, the BEST pole vault book ever written is "Mechanics of the Pole Vault," by Dr. R.V. Ganslen, now deceased. The last printing of the book was in 1980, and it was considered the bible of pole vaulting. There were multiple editions of it, and it's very hard to find, although I've seen it in a few librarys here and there. It has everything it it, from technique, to training, to photo sequences, history, cultural perspective, you name it. It is dated, but still very educational.

What do you mean by 'this day and age'? I see little need for a new book if there are older ones that sufficiently describe the vault and are very beneficial, like the one lonestar described.
