History/Evolution of Pole Vault Rules
Posted: Tue Apr 27, 2004 8:16 am
Hello Everybody,
I am trying to compile a history/evolution of pole vault rules.
If anybody has old rule books (NFHS, IAAFT, USATF, TAC, AAU, etc.) or anything else that describes, explains, or states any pole vault rules (e.g., newspaper articles), I would greatly appreciate it if you'd photocopy the pages that pertain to the pole vault (or vertical jumps in general) and send me a copy. Please be sure to identify what the source is and the year of publication. I'll try to acknowledge anyone who contributes, so if you'd like an acknowledgement, please be sure to include your name too.
I'm thinking of trying to write this information in the form of an article. We all seem to have access to lists of pole vault records, but I think it would be interesting to have a year-by-year record of how our rules have evolved.
Please send to:
Russ VerSteeg

I'll let you know when/if I'm able to write something up.
Thanks,
Russ
