Today I had a meet today and there was a vaulter jumping at 12'6. He got over the bar and hit it not to hard. The bar bounced and landed on the top of the standard above where it started. It was amazing that it stayed, but apparently thats not allowed and was counted as a miss. That ever happen to anyone else or has anyone ever seen that done before?

If the bar is dislodged from its original pegs, it's a miss, even if it looks really cool. The gill and ucs standards that just have the outrigger with just the one peg are great about catching a bouncer and having it actually rest higher than the orginal vault. I have had to call that a miss before several times and had to kind of agree with the booing crowd. Shoot, it stayed up there!

Yes it is. It's at the end of the NeoVault video segment on the Street Vault in Old Town Clovis, CA. It cost Lawrence Johnson the victory, and put Scott Slover as the big money winner. I was there and it was a bummer for Lawrence but great for Scott.

Back to what Brian said on an earlier post, "If the bar is dislodged from its original pegs, it's a miss, even if it looks really cool." I haven't looked to see where it is at in the book. But have seen it called by top level, very knowledgable, officials,... like Brian.
