Press Pass

I am thinking of applying for a press pass for Drake Relays. Kind of a long shot, but I figure the worst they can do is say no and laugh at me.

Should I say I am representing PoleVaultPower.com, or my school. PVPower is one of the biggest pole vault websites, but I doubt anyone outside the PV community takes it very seriously. I do run our track website (http://www.lindenwoodtrack.com/), and the guy who runs the school website calls me the Sports Web Reporter.

What do you think?

Although pvpower is the coolest website ever, im not sure if it holds enough clout to accredit you as 'media' I would say to try and use the school as your affiliation. Have your AD call them and get you one, or your head coach...

those are my 2 cents for what thier worth.. hope it helps...

It's not a matter of the school calling them, it is just paperwork I have to fill out

There is an association of media photographers you can join to provide credentials, but you might also talk to a local newspaper and see if they will use you as a stringer on a "as wanted" basis. Basically, when you want to send them stuff they may or may not use. This gives you "media" status that you can probably use to your advantage.

The other one just requires proof you've be published somewhere . . .but I'd have to look it up for the exact address

Otherwise, go for it. What's the worst that can happen?

I did 15 years ago LOL

I had a press release every time I went to the KU relays the Drake relays and the Texas relays as editor of the Elusive bar the book on Pole vaulting and I am sure as a reporter for the POLE vault standard and polevaultpower.com you could too if you let them know that the sites represent the community.

I talked to Tom Borish, the guy that runs trackshark.com, and he encouraged me to submit it under polevaultpower.com. So I faxed it in today! *crosses fingers* We'll see what they say.
