i dont know if this was already a topic, but since we always talk about how fast this guy was and how many meters per second this guys running, who in yours opinions was the slowest elite vaulter ever? probably not many but im just wondering who if any was the slowest?

Not quite an elite, but Mikhail Gorbatenko of Russia and UTEP was the slowest guy I've ever seen jump 18'. I would be shocked if he could run a 13 second 100m. He took off like a madman though.

I was probably the slowest 17' high schooler, I got to college and everyone called my run teh OP shuffle.
I'd like to think I'm not as slow, maybe someone has seen me jump and can put in their two cents. Don't be afraid of hurting my feelings, if I'm slow let me know so I can work on it

They were just riding you. I saw you jump at the TxRelays your senior year and I was pretty impressed. If I remember correctly the only downside at the time was that you were about 110 lbs. dripping wet!

I hope nobody gets pissed, but, you simply can't be slow and jump high, just won't happen. Technique is simply how effectively speed is used. If you don't have it goin' into the box, you can't "make up for it" when the pole hits the back of the box. Go back and look at the run velocities from nationals, and you will see, nobody slow jumps high.

I videotaped your competition at the Summit with a high speed video camera. I'm slowly but surely getting the velocities for the guys in this competion. When I finish - I'll send you your data.
