im glad he was trying to straight vault and not bend the pole because when i saw the title awful endings came to mind

Not like you could even bend a piece of pvc at those speeds though...

I'll have to get my friend to try this! He's a pretty good unicyclist! I'll post the video when (if) I get it.

thats the problem the pole would either brake and he would land on his butt in box or stalling out and landing in the box

Yeah... and there's an incoming unicycle if you do so! AHHH! If only I could unicycle... I will definitely try to get my friend to try this though.

Yep, former world-record holder Steve Smith (he is a friend of Jim O'Mahoney) was towed up to speed on a skateboard and vaulted somewhere around 16'. This was done in the late 70's.

There's a big difference (well, about 12") between 16' and 17', so I wonder which is correct?

And was he really towed? Or how did he do it?
