New Age 7 World Record

I hear he was going after it again today in Jonesboro, so this could already be out of date.

Armand "Mondo" Duplantis set an International World Record for a 7 year at the Mardi Gras Track Club Invitational on Saturday October 6th, 2007.He cleared 7'4".

Mondo had three additional attempts at raising his record to 7'8" before breaking his pole on his 3rd attempt.

Mondo travels to Bell Athletics in Arkansas for his competition to try and raise his world record before turning 8 years old later in November. Also competing in the invitational event will be "Grandpa Bell" (Earl's father), who will be attempting a new World Record for an 85 year old!.

Mondo is the son of Greg and Helena Duplantis.Check back soon for video of his performance

Click on the link to see pictures. I can't wait to see video of a 7-year-old breaking a pole!

Has anyone started recruiting him yet? How often can you get a world record holder to compete for your college track team? Never to early to start...

haha, he's the man. I remember watching him compete last year at summit. i was right by his pit and watched him maneuver his body right around the bar. He was a big hit with the crowd too. amazing improvement!

Whoa, the video made it on some UK newspaper blog:

Rivalry, records and rugby's need for speed
Our weekly YouTube round-up features feuding team-mates, the seven-year-old pole-vault superstar and some very rapid rugby players.

Our favourites from last week's blog ...

5) Mondo Duplantis is short, being seven years old and all, but that didn't stop him setting a world pole-vault record.

Just wait for someone with that rapid-aging disease like on the movie "jack" to come along in the vault, and jump 16 ft being a 7 year old :P. That crossed my mind in human anat and phys today lol.

Either way, this kids the man!! Im sure his classmates dont believe him when he tells them he has a world record lol.
The greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph
