What do you get asked?

Unread postby RamVault09 » Fri Oct 18, 2002 12:34 pm

It's endless, the types of questions pole vautlers get from the public.

haha, sometimes i can't help but say to myself, "you've got to be kidding...." Possibly followed by an inappropriate smartass remark :dazed: but, you know....

Just curious, from lugging your poles around to actually jumping, what are the most common and bizarre questions you've been asked?

Every single time I'm in an airport, "Wow what size ski's are those?" Some people can be so funny.

I've gotten the skis, hang glider, and sail.

I love it when people you talk to try to imitate vaulting with their hands together on their chest leaning forward.

Eh, I don't get anything funny like that. I've just had many people ask if it was a javelin.

Good things to say:
1)Its my boa constrictor, it has a back condition and I have to fly it to the vet.
2)Its an experimental lighting rod.....I sure hope there isn't a storm where we are flying to.
3)Yup, its a hang glider.
4)To be honest with you I don't know. Some guy just asked me to hold it.
5)I'm the manager for a minor league hockey team and we put all the sticks in this tube so we don't have to carry 30 different bags.
6)A near life size repleca of the ceiling of the Sisteen Chapel
7)It's a tree that I plan on planting in my backyard.
8)It's a matter of national security. If I told you I would have to kill you.
9)It's my collection of long metal rods
10)I'll tell you whats in my bag if you tell me whats in yours

All too frequently, when checking in at the airport, the baggage attendant wants to know "But, don't they FOLD or something?".

Thank GOD we weren't responsible for lugging them around Japan with us earlier this year, Steph and her big sister attracted enough crowds and stares all on their own!
