Whos yo coach?

Who is or was your coach and what would you give him/her on a scale 1-10. Mine is Tim McMicheal, I work with him in the summer only, and give him a 9.5. He was national champ and record holder from ou at 18-6 1/2. I give him that score because hes an expert in anatomy and the way it works, physics, pole vault mechanics period, and he knows how to coach evey style( if your a swing vaulter he wont try to force you to be a drive vaulter etc.) He has an uncanny trained eye for seeing mistakes or progress, is patient and can straight out get you motivated!

my coach is Aric Juarez. I would give him a 9 he's impacient, and always in a hurry even though he doesent have much to do. In college he was the JUCO campion i think two years in a row and I think he was second in california when he was in high school. He is friends with Jason Hinkin, Luke Walker, and Tim Mack and all kinds of other people like that. His PR is 17'6"

I would give Dick a 10. He would probably only give himself a 2 though.

The only coach i had so far was my coach on the school track team, and id give him a 3. Hes a nice guy to work w/ and all, but he doesnt seem to be a great vault coach, and really hasnt helped me much at all so far, and dunt really know how to fix ALLOT problems in ur vault. Finally got a real coach who i start workin w/ next week though, Oran Mitchell.
What have you done today to get better?

My Coach

Unread postby PoleVaultFreak » Sat Jun 28, 2003 10:13 pm

My coach at my school I would rate about a 2. He's a nice guy, but he just has no clue how the vault works. My real coach is Lance Atkins at Fiberbenders camp in Pennsylvania. I would give him a 10. He is a student of the vault as well as a teacher and is continually building upon "the perfect technique". He is able to immeadiatly identify what you do incorrectly and assuming you listen to what he says you see immeadiate results. A coach that can do that definatly deserves a 10. Im also intrested in anyone else who has trained with Lance, do you agree that he is one of the most knowledgeable people about the vault.

My coach was Lt. Matt Anderson, he was awesome, he was always there when we wanted to practice on weekends and stayed everyday til 6 at least, but since he's in the Navy he just got moved to Washington DC. I give him a 9 because he didn't tell some of us he was leaving until halfway through the season. :) but in the end he's right, we're all one big family, so... he'll still be there. Our other coach is Sue, she doen't get a rating yet because we'll have to see how she does next year.
