I think if a vaulter is not being responsible and landing all over the place they should be warned X number of times and then disqualified. The official should let the coach know what their concern is and give them an oppportunity to correct the problem. Some coaches and vaulters I see are so clueless that they go through warm-ups and hardly ever land on the pit. 99% of the time they are either gripping too high or their approach is terrible.
Do I agree with the PLZ idea, yeah. I don't see too many clearances when a person does not land in the PLZ. They way I see it is if you can't go straight and land in the PLZ you don't deserve to make the bar. There are sectors for the throwing events...why can't we have one?

Well for one, we don'ts pin in circles and can't kill other people if we screw up, just ourselves. Secondly, shouldn't the coach be responisble for his athlete not someone else...yeah i know, thats a really hard concept to comprahend now. Coaches need to put safety before points...PERIOD.

I totally agree coaches should be responsible fori their own athletes. Almost every meet I coach at I see coaches who don't have a clue and putting their kids at risk. Ideally everyone would know what their are doing and there wouldn't be any mistakes but I don't see that happening soon.
