If it's bending, it's not aluminum or steel.

Right on Becca. They did wobble a little though. But they didn't bend. Hey I have an idea, vault mark, take a picture of it and post it. Later..........Mike

You are about right on the diameter. I'll get on that picture and get it posted within a week. Thanks for the info.

The first Tx HSer over 14' was from my HS in '63. He was also supposedly the first HSer in TX to jump on fiberglass. There's a picture series in the HS yearbook from that year of him jumping around a 13' bar in his backyard. The craziest pic is one of him rocked back on a full bend with the pole planted in just a hole in the ground with just upturned dirt to land on. I need to get someone who still has access to the HS library to scan those pics.

achtungpv, the first guy I saw polevault was in 1959 and his "box" was a dirt hole in front of a pile of sawdust. The standards where wooden 2 X 4's on X's with nails in them at 3 inch(yeah right, I really remember THAT detail.I was 7 years old) intervals and a bamboo crossbar. They later built a wood box in the school shop for him and he was on the orange Gill pole. The "extra" HS box that I used in my yard for my set up in '68 thru '70 was made out of steel. It was made in the high school metal shop though. I also used the standards that the high school had built before they bought the factory built ones in about 67 or so. Made for a nice yard set up though. Later.....Mike

Our school currently has a couple of thos e metal poles, but we dont jump with them...I'll check how heavy they are.

I finally figured out what that pole I found was. It was just an old metal training pole. We jumped on it a little today, but it was so soft we really couldn't use it.
