Pole Vault Ranked in USA today's 10 hardest sports

i would like to point out that you can find a guy weighing well over 250 pounds hitting a 90 mph fastball and drive really fast while the chances of him going over 15 is slim. Conclusion, you don't have to be in shape to drive or hit a baseball. I'm pretty sure returning a 130 mph tennis ball successfully is much harder than hitting a baseball.

And what about competitive Ping Pong?? Have you seen how small that ball is, and how fast it moves... Seriously though, I've been thinking about this a bit since posting the topic, and I've settled on a few things. 1) This is all non-sense until someone lays out some criteria, because anything can be really hard. 2) My criteria for hardest would be broken into two sections Endurance and Flat-out-really-impossible-to-even-be-bad-at-without-a-coach-time-and-a-lot-of-ice. That said:

Endurance:
1. Tour De France
2. Iron Man
3. Any book by Jane Austin (sp)

Second Catagory: Impossible to rank in my mind
-Vault (yup saw that coming)
-Gymnastics
-Big wave
-Heidegger's conception of Art (qualifies simply on quantity of ice needed (mainly for the drinks involved, but occasionally for suppressing the pain of beating your head against the wall))

You guys are missing the big picture. Yea pole vaulting is hard, but have you ever driven a race car at 200mph? have you? Or hit a baseball as far as they do at 95mph? I didnt think so. Yea, so what, I bet people that race or play baseball are saying in THIER forums"Polevaulting probably isnt that hard, you just have to go over a bar with a stick". Read the book To Kill a Mocking Bird and maybe you'll "jump in other people's skins".

Just to make the comparison fair, lets be more specific. Instead of saying "Pole Vaulting is hard" let's say "Pole Vaulting 19' is hard"

The fair comparison would be saying "Driving a car is hard" and "Hitting a baseball is hard"

16 year olds drive cars and little kids can hit baseballs. Look at the number of race car drivers compared to the number of guys playing pro-baseball that can hit a fastball and the number of guys that have jumped 19' this year. i'd say the number of 19 footers is a lot less than the other two.......

I still say pole vaulting WELL is the hardest thing in sports
