Totally Outrageous Video - Rich Fulford
there's an extreme video show on the G4 channel called "totally outrageous behavior". flipping through the channels the other day I caught the tail end of the closing scenes and they showed a quick glimpse of a pole vaulter getting skewered by the pole on the way down. I think it was Rich Fulford from UT. has anyone seen this video? anyone have an mpeg of it they can share? I'd like to take another look at it. I think the pole sticks in his thigh and he actually re-bends it as he falls. looked nasty.

The Olympic vaulter is Denis Yurchenko of the Ukraine. There was a stretcher involved and lots of blood.
The worst I've seen was actually on one of those home video TV shows back in '98 or so. Alain Andji of France landed on top of a pacer carbon and impaled himself about 2 inches deep in the muscle of the inner thigh just below the crotch. Even though the video is from a distance, you can see it pierce the muscle and pop out when the pole bends. Ended his season and never jumped near 19' again after that.

"You have some interesting coaching theories that seem to have little potential."
