Is she "All-American" status now?
Is she "All-American" status now?
OK first off, sorry that this is not a pole vault question, but its still a track and field question. I have a sophomore (she was a sophomore this year) girl on my team (I'm going to be a senior next year) who runs a 56 second 400m. 00:56! Thats an unbelieveable time for New England track and field, but I dont know if that is anythnig compared to what kids in the other part of the country are doing, because I know if a boy vaults 13' around here then everyone knows your name, were a 13' vault in some places isn't even gonna put u in the top 4 of the league. Just wondering if a 56 second 400m for a girl (only a sophomore this year) is good enough to be an all-american or close to it, like would she be a top runner in any of your leagues? Thanks!

there are a lot of all american honorings.....and most of them come from competing at the national championship level. Here's what I know:
Top Six at Addidas Outdoor Championships are NSSF All Americans
Top Six at Junior Nationals are USATF Junior (under 20, not only HS) All Americans
Track and Field News names Five HS All Americans based on performance at meets of the Nationals Championship Level (ie. State Meets, Golden West, Addidas Outdoor Championships, Junior Nationals).
I believe Dye Stat names All Americans based on top performance.
Finally I believe "Jim Spier's Top Five" names five all americans based on best performance.
Of those I feel USATF and Track and Field News are the most prestigous b/c those are the ones i got .

yea so shes def. good anywhere she goes, her problem is she has nobody to push her, she never has any competition because shes so far infront of everyone, when she runs the 4X400 she has extremley good splits because our other 400 girls runners that are in the 4x400m relay with her are just normal runners and this girl runs the last leg so most of the time she is chasing someone, at the ne championships she caught and passed a girl who was 130m in front of her when she got the baton, pretty impressive huh?
