I just pulled this from a paragraph of Doug Logan's address at the USATF annual meeting in Reno this past December.
I thought this was pretty solid:

"We don't ask where you've come from, we just ask where you are going and how fast. The important thing is not your race but the race. We don't care about the color of your body, because we know all sweat looks the same..."
