Grade: Tyler is in 12th, Britney is in 11th
How long you have been jumping: 4th season for Tyler, 1st day for Britney
What pole you are on (length and weight rating): Tyler = 13' 6"/165, Britney = 11' 0"/140
How high you are gripping: ~12', ~8'-9'
What bar(s) you are attempting in the video: 10' & 11', 6' & 7'

They both (and their coach) know they have lots to work on but are struggling with what to tackle first. The coach isn't a pole vault guy, just trying his best to help them be safe and get better.

What are the major points of emphasis for my teammates?

Tyler is in his 4th year of vaulting w/ an 11' 6" PR although he is on a different pole this year as he is too heavy for the 12' 0"/160 & 13' 0"/155 he used last year. Today was Britney's first day off the ground.

The video is of a pop-up and 4 vaults of Tyler, 3 vaults of Britney.
I didn't want to post just one as I figure they are somewhat inconsistent from one to the next.

Tyler - work on the right arm, jumping off the ground, and really driving your knee hard off the ground. you can work on the second two especially hard during your drills as well. with more knee drive, your swing will come through harder, you will put more energy in the pole, and you should see lots of improvement.

Britney - congrats on your first day. really, you can think about the same things as Tyler. jump off the ground and be tall off of the ground. try to be hanging off of your top hand at the takeoff, not pulling yourself up to the bungee height. dont look at the bar... but also don't start throwing your head back either. just think about driving the right knee, and swinging the trail leg through hard. for now, i wouldn't worry about height or a bungee of any kind.

good luck!

Thanks jcoover! I will pass this on to them.

Anybody else have suggestions? The vaulters haven't done much since Monday due to storms and very cold weather now. No indoor pit so it is just drills and a sliding plant box for now.
Maybe tomorrow or else they will have to wait until Monday.

for the boy
drive your knee
press your arms upward at takeoff
maybe run a little faster, your slowing down a lot near the top but your still okay. or move your standards in
Age: 16
PR: 11'0'' - 3.35m
