Hey Brandon, nice to see you're trolling PVP and researching the topics I mentioned to you!
When I first read this post of yours, I thought I read "
... you need to use to bend your pole". However, I now realize that you HAVE stated this correctly, so I can relax now.
I was going to say:
Remember that PV is not pole BENDING - it's pole VAULTING!But you know this! (Others may not, or may misread your post just as I did at first.)
What you said is a round about way of saying that if you plant high and jump up (in this order! Or is it?
) then you will SWING to vertical
better, and that will put your body in the right (vertical) position to
use your pole bend. That's 100% correct.
In addition to getting a better swing, the other good reason for driving up and into the pole on takeoff is to stretch your body into the right
posture so that you can start your swing more vigorously - meaning faster and with more oomph!
This is the main difference between a 14-3 vaulter and a 16-3 vaulter.
Oomph! Ya, real technical PV term, eh?
