Hello, I am a sophomore from NJ. My PR is 9'6. My biggest problem is that I am attacking the bar right when I get near it and I never actually invert. Is there anything I can do to stop this. Thanks

You need to focus on the top of the pole not the bar. Think of it this way. Let's say you are vaulting on an eleven foot pole gripping at eleven feet. If you swing through the top of the pole, you should clear ten foot, four inches. If you vault focus on the bar, you will only clear the height of where that bar is.

This difficult concept for young vaulters to understand. I would add that the vault is a chain of events. Run, plant, takeoff, swing, and turn. If any of the first four elements are not correct, your turn will suffer.

Good luck.
